Before President Barak Obama ever heard 'Hail to the Chief', there was mail to the chief.

Sixth graders at Roanoke's Stonewall Jackson Middle School wrote letters to Mr. Obama Tuesday morning for an English class assignment.

Some of the topics were very grown up.

"I hope you will change the economic situation and bring the brave men and women home from the war in Iraq. I hope you can help the environment and the education of young people and that in the future you will make the greatest of decisions.", wrote Casey Moseley.

After writing the letters, the students watched the swearing in ceremony on television.
