For Kayla Robbins, witnessing the Oath of Office taken by President Obama was a tremendous event in her life.
"It was amazing", she said, just minutes after bouncing up and down with glee after hearing the words, "So help me God". "I Can't believe our country is so mature that it could elect a black man."
The sixth grader, from Check Elementary School in Floyd County, was one of nearly 400 people to fill the Lyric Theater in downtown Blacksburg.
Her and her friends aren't just any kids that came to see the ceremonyc either. Many of them were also Obama campaign workers, making Tuesday's event a complete circle of victory for them.
The event, brought to the theater by Faustina Sellers, was designed to emulate the inspiration, Sellars says, she gets from Obama. Admission for the big screen viewing: A can of food.
In doing so, the event collected around a dozen boxes of canned food that will go to an area food bank.
Meanwhile, in the front row, Kayla and her friends join the others around them in experiencing this day the best they could. People applauded, laughed, and even stood while both Vice President Biden and President Obama received their oaths.
As soon as President Obama was sworn in the place erupts in cheers and tears; Kayla's group exchanging hugs and kisses.
