Perneller Chubb-Wilson talks about inauguration experience

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Perneller Chubb-Wilson returned to Roanoke today, after going up to see the inauguration.

As you know, she fought for years to have a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Roanoke. The struggle ended with Dr. King's statue and the memorial bridge.

Wilson says the inauguration was a day she'll never forget, especially President Obama's speech.

Wilson still has the inauguration ticket.

It's her own little piece of history to remember the man who made it.

"It reminded me of the day when Martin Luther King Jr. did the I Have a Dream Speech when everybody was speechless," said Chubb-Wilson. "You couldn't hear a pen fall."

Perneller says there were no fights or arguments all day...just people helping people.
