»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Halifax man pleaded guilty to seven cocaine charges Wednesday, but will only spend five out of a potential 55 years in prison.

The Halifax County South Boston regional drug and gang task force says Calvin Lamont Baker pleaded guilty to four charges of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, as well as three charges of conspiring to distribute cocaine.

A Halifax County judge sentenced Baker to 55 years, then suspended all but five years of an active sentence. Baker must also be on good behavior for 55 years, pay restitution to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office, and have his driver's license suspended for six months after he finishes his prison time.
