Bicyclists in Roanoke

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Hundreds of bikers are staying in the Roanoke Valley over the weekend.
They started off their hioliday with a ride through downtown Roanoke.
Adults and even children took part in the 1-kilometer race.
The Roanoke Cycling Organization chose their course through the area that has small hills and a fast finish.
It's all part of the Commonwealth Games which brings in athletes from all over Virginia.
"Kind of a passion, you get into cycling, really aggressively, like my daughter and I do. You feel like you have a void in your life if you haven't raced your bike," said Ed McMelis from Roanoke.
One more race is set for Sunday, which begins at 9 a.m. in downtown Roanoke.
Organizers say they've had record-breaking numbers in their participants.
