VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) - The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel suffered minor damage when it was hit by a barge.
Spokeswoman Debbie Cooley said one barge hit the bridge-tunnel's middle trestle at 6:20 a.m. Monday. No injuries were reported.
Authorities had said earlier that two barges hit the bridge-tunnel.
Several southbound lanes were closed while crews assessed the damage, causing a 2.5-mile traffic backup. Cooley says all lanes have reopened.
The bridge-tunnel connects Virginia's Eastern Shore with the mainland at Virginia Beach.
