Local teenager starts recycling business, gets recognition from President Obama

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A local teenager gets an environmental achievement award from President Obama for jump starting his own recycling business.

13 year-old T.J Stroupe is the man behind the recycling business.

He started T.J's Recycling two years ago after receiving a kit for his birthday.

After T.J. collects items like VCR tapes and plastic shopping bags his mom turns them into purses and rugs.

"I'd always wanted to own my own business and recycling was helping save the earth so I was pretty excited," said Stroupe.

The teenager was selected as first runner up for the presidential environmental youth award and received a signed certificate from President Barack Obama.
