Hazardous waste, electronics accepted

On Saturday, the Concord Turnpike Regional Landfill will collect household hazardous waste and items for electronic recycling from 8 a.m. to noon. This is a free service for residents of Lynchburg; Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell and Nelson counties; and the towns of Altavista and Brookneal.

All residents must present a photo ID and bring items in non-returnable containers. Residents of Amherst, Appomattox and Nelson must also bring a voucher from their county’s solid waste department.

The regional landfill is located at 2525 Concord Turnpike in Lynchburg. For a list of acceptable and unacceptable items, visit http://www.region2000.org or call Citizens First at (434) 856-2489.
