Del. Ben Cline opposes APCO fuel factor rate hike

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Lexington Delegate Ben Cline (R-24th) says he doesn't think the Commonwealth should approve a rate hike for Appalachian Power.

The Republican sent a letter to the State Corporation Commission (SCC) to oppose APCo's request for a more than 40% rate hike in its fuel factor.

Cline calls APCo's request. "Excessively high and poorly timed, given the rate increases approved last year, and the economic hardships facing many Virginians."

APCo claims it needs the rate increase to help pay for the increasing cost of what it uses to generate electricity.

The SCC will hold two hearing on APCo's request. One on June 30th in Richmond, the second on July 1st in Wytheville.
