U.S. 29 now open after accident

The Virginia Department of Transportation says this incident has cleared and normal traffic patterns should have resumed.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says:

“On US-29 in the County of Amherst, in the vicinity of S Amherst Hwy; S Main St; BUS US-29N/S (6 Amherst), BUS US-29N; BUS US-29N/S, BUS US-29N/S (6 Amherst), near Carter Glass Bridge, motorists can expect major delays due to a vehicle accident. The south right lane is closed. Traffic backups are approximately 2.0 miles.“
