Firefighting Cub Scout thanked by NASCAR driver Stacy Compton

»  Comments | Post a Comment

NASCAR truck series driver Stacy Compton was in Altavista today to show his gratitude to a local Cub Scout. Eleven year old Forrest Taylor was returning home from shopping in February and saw one of a number of brush fires that started that day. He told his brother to stop the car and dialed 911, and Forrest and his brother and father got out and battled the flames with T-shirts. Forrest also took photographs and video of firefighters attacking the brush fire.

Compton, the land's owner, came to town Monday to thank the young boy and his brother and father for their quick action, citing it as a key factor in preventing the fire from causing even further damage. The mayor of Altavista and a local Boy Scouts leader also came to show their admiration for the boy. Compton called the boy's actions a good example for both adults and children.
