WSLS has learned another candidate is jumping into the race to replace Del. William Fralin (R-Roanoke Co).
Late Thursday night, Republican Party officials said local attorney Josh Johnson will be running for the GOP nomination.
Johnson, a graduate of the UVA School of Law, works for Gentry Locke in Roanoke handling mainly commercial litigation. This is his first run for public office.
He joins fellow Republican Melvin Williams and Democrat Gwen Mason in the race. Republicans will pick their nominee in a June primary.
Fralin is not running for re-election after serving six years in the House. His district, which covers portions of Roanoke County, Roanoke City, and Botetourt County, is heavily Republican.
