Fire investigators are on the scene of a house fire in North Roanoke County this afternoon. It happened in the 6300 block of Greeway Drive around 1 p.m. Firefighters from the Hollins, Vinton, and Masons Cove station responded. It took about 30 minutes for crews to put out the fire. Crews were able to contain the damage primarily to the living room, but there is heat and smoke damage throughout the home.
According to Roanoke County Fire and Rescue, a couple lives in the home, but they were not there when the fire started. The woman called 911 when she returned home and saw smoke. She was able to get two dogs out of the house safely.
No one was hurt. The couple has been displaced from the home and is reportedly staying with family.
