The people of Rockbridge County voiced their concerns Wednesday night to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).
Dozens gathered at Rockbridge County High School Wednesday night for the informational meeting.
Back in February, we reported the Boy Scout Camp in Goshen was the number one pick to permanently house the Jamoboree.
Typically the event, which is every four years, draws around 250 thousand people. That large number has caused concern for those living in the area.
The BSA representatives said they do not think they will be able to hold the Jamboree in Goshen in 2013, because of all the scrutiny and criticism.
"I think there is a very well-organized, vocal group that clearly opposes this,” BSA Executive Board Member Jack Furst said. “I think history indicates this group tends to oppose just about everything."
Before the meeting, there were five things that were major concerns for the people of Rockbridge County and the BSA. Those include the dam, water, water quality, sewage, and traffic.
After hearing what people in the audience had to say, the BSA added evacuation to that list.
The Boy Scouts of America representatives say they have never faced opposition like this.
