Pulaski SWAT practice for terrorist threats

PULASKI CO. - Homegrown anarchist terrorist are inside this compound with possible chemical weapons, guns, and explosives. It was just a drill, but the Pulaski swat team is taking it very seriously.

"It better prepares us in the event that we have an incident within the county," said Pulaski County Emergency Manager Bobby Clark.

About 50 members of local fire and EMS, police, state and federal agencies are all involved in the mock scenario.

"We've had a swat team enter a building that's holding weapons of mass destruction, possible hazmat agents, and a hostage,” said Fransico Cruiz, EPA Spokesperson.

After about five minutes of searching the building, the team arrested a female terrorist. They also found a lab to make chemical weapons, a bomb in this backpack, and didn't fall for the grenade boobie-trapped to these stairs.

While they were searching the compound, the state police bomb squad robot was searching nearby buildings. The exercise wasn't a total success, for this scenario, two officers were injured in a fire-fight with a now dead terrorist.

"Any incident like this is very high stress and the more times you can go through it in an exercise, the more times that they can get comfortable with each other,” said Clark.

"In a real event, you don't get to push the reset button. It’s good for them to practice and make sure their skills stay sharp," said Cruiz.

How sharp their skills are could be the difference between a quiet arrest and a tragic ending.
