Many people are mourning the loss of a Roanoke County woman who died of complications from the seasonal flu.

58-year-old Debby Reynolds passed away on Friday at her Roanoke County home. Reynolds worked as the librarian at Mountain View Elementary for the last 35 years.

Monday, her son Seth explained what his mom meant to all the knew her. "She was everything to me. More than a mother, she was a best friend. She allowed me to be a teenager, and was always there when I needed her. I don't think there was one person she ever met that did not think the world of her. She always did something for them, and made a difference in their life," said Seth.

After many years of service to the school, students and staff at Mountain View are taking the news very hard. The principal tells us, Ms. Reynolds lit up the school with her love of reading and caring for the students.

Seth knew, his mother was doing the job she loved. "Every time they went out shopping, she would buy 10-15 books for the library. The library was her life," he said.

A life devoted to children at the school. "There were messages on the guest book on-line. Students living in Alabama, Maryland, everywhere, saying when they were in elementary school, she made the biggest impact on their life," Seth told me.

A funeral for Debby Reynolds will be held Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., at the Oakey's Funeral Home's North Chapel location on Peters Creek Road.
