McDonnell votes, proud his sons can vote for him for first time

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Republican candidate for Governor Bob McDonnell cast his ballot in Glen Allen, a suburb of Richmond, Tuesday morning with his family.

McDonnell said he was proud that his twin sons could vote for him for the first time. The pair were too young back in 2005 to vote. McDonnell joked with reporters after voting that he promised he would take his sons and daughters to McDonald's afterwards, if they voted for him.

McDonnell also told reporters that he's not resting on any lead in the polls, calling on his supporters to make sure they get as many people to vote as they can.

Fox Newschannel political reporter Carl Cameron asked McDonnell if elected, how would McDonnell respond to policies coming out of Washington D.C. (i.e. Congress and the White House). McDonnell answered that he would stand up for Virginia interests and Virginia business interests, and denounce policies that he sees as potentially harmful to the Commonwealth. McDonnell then added that he would praise policies coming from Washington that he saw as beneficial, and mentioned President Barack Obama's charter school plan.

McDonnell will end his day in Richmond to watch the returns with the rest of the Republican ticket.

WSLS will have coverage from the McDonnell campaign throughout the evening.
