Danville Police investigate unattended death

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Danville police are investigating the death of a woman found dead in an apartment on Audubon Drive on Wednesday.

Capt. Barry Creasy said the identification of the woman is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

It is unknown how long the woman was dead before the body was discovered, Creasy said. The woman’s body is being sent to the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for autopsy.

“There is no reason to believe there was foul play at this time,” Creasy said, adding that it is simply procedure to order an autopsy during an unattended death, “without a physician in attendance.”
