A Danville man died Saturday night as a result of a motorcycle accident in Pittsylvania County.
Glenn Hayman Matherly, 46, was traveling east on Route 1521 in Pittsylvania County when he struck a brick mailbox, and was thrown from his motorcycle, said Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Robert Carpentieri. The accident occurred at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday almost a mile east of Route 1520.
Matherly died at about 9:50 p.m. at Duke University Medical Center.
