Roanoke City Council member, Rupert Cutler, will make his way to Capitol Hill on Tuesday.
Cutler will attend a Senate briefing to urge a national clean energy and climate change policy.
He plans to discuss what Roanoke has done to save energy and reduce carbon emissions by nearly two percent.
Cuter says it's an honor to put Roanoke on the map.
"We need to be on the map. We deserve to be on the map. We're the number one city in Virginia in energy conservation, so the world needs to know about us," he said.
Senator Mark Warner will also be there with Cutler along with four other local politicians from Florida and South Carolina.
