Free day of fun as Taubman Museum celebrates one year on Saturday

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Taubman Museum of Art in downtown Roanoke celebrates its first birthday on Saturday.
Last year, it held a grand opening which even brought Governor Kaine to Roanoke to celebrate.
Some of the art exhibits include Rembrandt's etchings.
A spokeswoman says in one year, even in the tough economy, the museum has made new partnerships and even won an architecture award.
They want to give everybody a chance to join in on Saturday's festivities and save their money while having fun.
"It's a free day. It's our way to give back to the community and thank the community for their support in making our first year possible," said Kimberly Templeton with the museum.
The art galleries will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fun activities for the kids will go from noon to 4 p.m.
