Virginia economic group cites state's job loss since 2007

The state of working Virginia is not good, according to a report released today by the Commonwealth Institute of Fiscal Analysis.

Virginia has lost more than 125,000 jobs since the recession began late in 2007, the report found. It said roughly one-third of the jobs created during the 2001-2007 expansion have disappeared.

The think tank, an arm of the Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy, also concluded that Virginia's work force participation is the highest in the nation. About 70 percent of the working age population was working or seeking work.
