Roanoke shoppers look for pre-Black Friday deals

»  Comments | Post a Comment

All evening Thursday, car after car pulled up outside of Old Navy and someone jumped out to check the door, but they quickly realized it was locked.

“Hey Old Navy's closed, so go to K-Mart,” Erin Flaherty explained to someone on her cell phone.

Flaherty was hoping to get a head start on Black Friday.

“I wanted to try on some stuff for tomorrow, so my mom could know what size to get,” Flaherty said.

She and others saw Old Navy’s ad in the paper advertising sales on Thanksgiving Day, but they left with confusion not clothes.

”It said open Thanksgiving Day at 12 p.m.” Christy Karn said as she read the top of the ad.

Most of the people that showed up didn't read the fine print that said “check your local store.”

We found plenty others keeping an eye on the sale papers.

Sabrina Wright and Samantha Wolfe have picked out a laptop and desktop worthy of being first in line for at Best Buy.

They pitched their tent at 1:00 on Thanksgiving Day, but right beside them is Jonathan Mikulecky and his two brothers.

“We really don't do it for the money. We do it for the family bonding time. Instead of watching TV we camp out at Best Buy,” Mikulecky said.

It's become their new family tradition.

Whether they're looking for a deal or guaranteed one, some bypass the feast for the Black Friday fever.
