Again the text messages were phony.

Police sources I talked to said, at face value, they didn't see anything illegal about the fake Amber Alert.

Some admitted that made them mad.

We also found out about a similar hoax scheme in Lancaster County, Virginia.

The Lancaster County hoax supposedly involved an infant.

Roanoke County police said all the 911 calls they had about the phony text messages didn't really tax any resources, but in general was a huge waste of time.

Original post:

Roanoke County Police say someone sent out a fake Amber Alert text message Friday morning, and it is being spread.

Police say the fake message claims a 3-year-old from Roanoke Co. has been abducted b ya man in a Mitsubishi Eclipse, and gives a license plate number.

The message also reads "Keepsending what if he was urs!"

Roanoke County Police say they are not investigating any such case.
