The Gem Gallery in Roanoke County spent the morning picking up broken glass, and trying to see what was missing. At around 5 o'clock Monday morning, a burglar smashed the front door of the store. He spent a few minutes trying to get in to numerous display cases. He smashed one he may have thought had diamonds in it, but it did not. "Nothing in the case except a display of Cubic Zirconia. It looked alot like diamonds", said Lorraine Hutchinson, a sales associate at the store.
In all, owner Sherry Frantz believes the man may have gotten away with a couple of thousand dollars in merchandise. Police were on hand much of the morning, taking fingerprints and looking at surveillance video. If you have any information that may help police in this case, you are asked to call 540-562-3265.
