Martinsville Speedway finding a new way to keep fans safe

»  Comments | Post a Comment

It's a big race weekend in Martinsville, and Speedway officials want to make sure fans get the help they need in the event of an emergency.

Over the course of a normal race weekend, the Martinsville Speedway sees more than 100,000 fans enjoying the action. Now, if any of those fans need help, it's just a text message away.

This weekend, fans will notice signs all around the track explaining how to text in the event you need help. The information will also be scrolling on the big screen during portions of the weekend.

The emergency texting system will be operating Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. until one hour after the Speedway closes up each night.
