Woman found dead in Pittsylvania Co. fire

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The Pittsylvania County Fire Marshal's office is investigating the death of a woman, who was found inside a mobile home that burned Wednesday night.

Investigators say the fire was called in around 10:20 p.m., on Sheva Road outside of Chatham.

Firefighters from the Chatham Fire Department and Gretna Fire Department responded, and found a single-wide mobile home destroyed by fire, as well as the body of a woman inside.

The woman's body has been sent to the medical examiner's office to determine how she died.

Investigators believe the fire sparked in the area where the mobile home's wood stove was located, and do not suspect arson or foul play.
