»  Comments | Post a Comment

Roanoke County breaks ground for a new library. A ceremony was held Tuesday morning at the site on Merriman Road across from Penn Forest Elementary School.

The new South County Library is the first new full-service library to be built in Roanoke County in more than 30 years. It will replace the Headquarters Library on 419, which was built more than 40 years ago.

Planning for the $9 million project began in 2005. The library is expected to open by June 2011.
