ROANOKE, VA - Students and parents in the Roanoke Valley join forces to prevent underage drinking.

Dozens showed up to a town hall meeting Tuesday at Virginia Western Community College night to address the problem.

The event was hosted by the Roanoke County Prevention Council and Roanoke Area Youth Substance Abuse Coalition.

"Underage drinking is a huge problem in Roanoke County," said Christopher Taoevi. He's a student at Cave Spring High School. "We're trying to spread awareness to all individuals that it concerns. We have a large crowd out here tonight and we're happy to see so many people involved in caring about their community."

700 total town hall meetings were held across the country Tuesday, about underage drinking.
