Four-legged friends join bedtime stories at Rescue Mission

»  Comments | Post a Comment

ROANOKE - It was bedtime with a bark tonight in Roanoke.

For the first time, the Rescue Mission Women and Children's Center had some help putting the little ones to sleep.

Dalmatian Rescue of Southwest Virginia brought in some four-legged friends to help read stories to the kids.

The director says they have story time every night, but the rescue group wanted to do something different for the kids for the holidays.

"It's rewarding working with the dogs and bringing them down here where the children are in the same situation as the dogs were in at one point in their lives. It's really rewarding," said Michele Moseley with Dalmatian Rescue of Southwest Virginia.

Moseley says they'd like to make the visit to the Rescue Mission a holiday tradition.
