Group of local medical professionals leaves soon for Haiti

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Even though the recovery in Haiti is not getting as much coverage as it did right after the earthquake happened, there is still a great need.

A local group spent today sorting and bagging medical supplies they will take with them on their upcoming trip to Haiti, "There are various medications from ointments for infections and wounds antibiotics injectable medications are coming... antibiotics...over the counter preparations for fever and pain whatever we can think we might need we have supplies for delivering babies... everything we think we might need to do the job that we're not sure we'll have to do." Dr. Sarbin said.

Dr. Adam Sarbin organized the group of 13 local medical professionals who are using their vacation time for the trip.

Most of the members specialize in treating children but will do whatever they can to help out.

Registered Nurse, Jenny Baldwin says, "Whether it be feed a child or take care of a wound or set a limb if the need is there we are going to try our best to take care of that and do whatever we can to help these people."

Angel Missions Haiti is also helping with the trip.

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Vanessa Frehville says,"It is something I have always wanted to do."

The group leaves February 13th and returns ten days later.

Dr. Sarbin says the trip would not be possible without the tremendous support the group has gotten from their family, friends and colleagues.

Here is a list of just some of the people who have helped with donations for the trip:

Physicians To Children – Generous contribution to help subsidize the team’s travel expenses.

Tammy deGraff at Medical Center Pharmacy – Provided medication list to use for Haiti and provided some meds at low cost
