Wind causes snow drifts in Pulaski Co.

PULASKI CO. - Warning signs flashed on the sides of the roads in Christiansburg- “High Wind Warning.”

As the trees blew back and forth in Pulaski County, the gusts caused the snow to drift back into the streets.

From small patches on Robinson Tract Road to larger sections of snow on Mines Road, VDOT workers say they have their work cut out for them.

"It makes a long, long, long day,” said Rodger Davis with VDOT.

Even major roads like Route 100 near Dublin were covered in certain areas, and VDOT plows tried to keep up with the wind.

"Well, the biggest part of the day is we're pushing back where it's drifted in the road. Every 45 minutes to an hour, you've got to make a pass cause it's anywhere from four to six inches in the road,” Davis said.

Wherever there are open fields full of snow, the wind is more likely to push the snow into roads.

The temperature read 29 degrees- cold enough to keep the snow sticking to the roads, but the wind chill dipped down in the single digits. It felt more like two degrees in Blacksburg.
