Fire damaged at least three Franklin County businesses early on Monday.
Franklin County's Fire Marshal tells us that a Carilion EMS unit driving to Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Route 220, spotted the flames around 3:30 a.m. in Boones Mill.
Ironically, the firehouse is two doors away from where the flames sparked, so crews did not have to go far.
Firefighters did not find anyone inside.
The flames destroyed one out of four businesses, a tatoo shop, caused heavy damage to a lawyer's office, and caused some damage to a third business, according to the fire marshal. A Heating an A/C company was spared.
Investigators are still trying to figure out what started the fire, but do not suspect arson as of Monday evening.
