BEDFORD CO. - A Roanoke man was arrested at a Bedford County library on Thursday after, investigators said, library officials noticed him engaging in “suspicious activities” while on a library computer.
Deputies from the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45-year-old Roosevelt Occenac, of 8 Bradley Lane, at the Montvale Public Library, and charged him with attempting to possess child pornography, Maj. Ricky Gardner said via a news release Friday.
Gardner said the library officials notified the sheriff’s office of Occenac’s presence just after 11 a.m. Thursday.
He said investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrived at the library to investigate.
Occenac was arrested without incident, Gardner said.
Gardner said Occenac had been noticed at the library on Tuesday, when two girls, 12 and 10 years old, reported him to their mother.
Both times Gardner said, Occenac was at the library during children’s events.
He said investigators also obtained search warrants for Occenac’s car and a USB jump drive he had with him.
