Our story about a woman who worked at a local strip club sparked several complaints from viewers who were irritated by a shot in the story that they felt was inappropriate.
Tina posted on our WSLS chat, “Why did you pan the stripper's----aka exotic dancer's body?”
Another person chimed in during the chat.
H0kiegal wrote, “Oh now was the necessary? Panning up and down that girl's body. Shame on that cameraman.” She added, “I would suggest y'all eliminate that panning of that girl's body if you do that story anymore today.”
WSLS responds: Thanks for the comment and you are all correct. We should not have shown that particular shot. It was inappropriate and it did not re-air after we got your complaints. Simply put, it was a mistake and we appreciate you alerting us to it.
After a recent string of beautiful days, Storm Team Ten Meteorologist Patrick McKee did a tongue-in-cheek story on something he encounters all the time: people blaming him and giving him credit for the weather. But one viewer didn't find the humor.
He called to say, “I'm calling to express my displeasure and sadness with a little feature featured on the 6pm news where Patrick went out on the street and was talking to the viewers and he was expressing how they were actually coming up and thanking him for the good weather we have enjoyed. I'm saddened at the viewing populace for their ignorance in thinking that the weather man has anything to do with our weather other than reporting what he observes. And I'm equally saddened with Patrick for not correcting the people and redirecting their thanks to the one who deserves it, his name is the Lord God Almighty.”
WSLS responds: thanks for the call. I'm afraid the humor of the story didn't translate for you. Trust me our meteorologists are well aware that they have nothing to do with creating the weather. They simply report what's happening. Still, people frequently tell them thanks for a beautiful day or for a nice rain, or blame them for a drought, a foot of snow, or a week's worth of dreary weather. The story was a play on that and nothing more.
