For more than a year now, you've had an easy way to see just how accurate our Storm Team is with our Three Degree Guarantee for each day's forecast. One viewer likes it a lot, but doesn't like its new spot in our newscast.
Brian Bowman emailed, “I have been a long-time viewer of the 6:00 and 11:00 news now for over 30 years. You all have the best coverage in the area. However, I do not agree with the moving of the 3 degree accuracy to the end of the weather report. It appears to me sometimes that you almost forget to announce it. Please consider moving it back!!”
Brian, thanks for the note. We’re glad you like the Three Degree Guarantee. We actually moved it to the end of the weather forecast to give it a little more prominence. That way it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. It also give Karen and me a change to ask our meteorologists about how they did congratulate if they hit the bulls eye and give them a chance to explain if they were off the mark.
Another viewer wants a little help for John Appicello in the sports department calling in to say, “I think you guys do a wonderful job. You have three meteorologists, two news anchors. I think you should have two sports people when John Appicello goes on vacation.”
WSLS responds... thanks for the call. At WSLS the entire news department covers sports with John Appicello heading up our coverage and offering expert analysis and commentary. Don't worry, though… you'll be seeing a lot of John in the coming weeks as he gears up for what will be a busy and exciting football season between high schools, Virginia Tech and UVa, and the Redskins.
Finally, we got this call from Teresa Shira in Roanoke. She said, “You're doing a beautiful job covering the news and the weather. We appreciate ya. Keep up the good work.”
