ROANOEK - Roanoke City opened its doors at the new Station #5 back on June 22nd, but held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday with city staff and community members on hand.

The new firehouse on Orange Ave. will consolidate the old Station #5 and Station #9.

Construction on the new LEED certified structure began back in the fall of 2007.

Chief David Hoback tells WSLS that the new tenants are very excited about their new home and came together to build a beautiful new dinner table.

The total cost of the new station was about $4.8 million.
