ROANOKE CO. - When Joan Resk fed her horses Thursday morning she only counted three and the fourth, a show horse named Farruco, was no where to be found.
The four stallions are kept in an electric fence behind Resk's house.
She noticed Farruco had torn down part of the fence and escaped out the back.
“This is a case where there is apparently a stallion fight and the stallion lost and he ran for his life,” said Resk, the horses’ owner.
She says there's evidence the horses started roughing each other up and Farruco just kept running.
Resk spent most of the day looking for Farruco, but there's dense forest all around her property, there's 500 acres and that's just on the backside, so you can imagine just how helpless she felt.
“It's like which county is he in? it could be Franklin County, it could be Roanoke County, it could be Roanoke City, it could be 220 or I81 and mowed over,” Resk said.
She's worried two things could happen - he could get hit or someone might adopt him and she'll never see him again, after all, he's a rare show horse.
Farruco is one of her four pure bread Andalusian stallions imported from Spain.
In fact, Resk says there are only about 9,000 of them in the United States.
“This is pet, this is an investment, this is my friend.”
Resk says Farruco is wearing a purple halter and if you happen to find him you're asked to call 540-776-8331.
