Five mothers buy car through "Responsible Rides" program

»  Comments | Post a Comment

SALEM - Thanks to a new car program five mothers can now toot their own horns.

It's called "Responsible Rides."

New River Community Action, Total Action Against Poverty, Enterprise, Freedom First Insurance and Freedom First Credit Union joined forces for the program.

Lower income families get the chance to buy a car with affordable monthly payments and interest rates.

The women say without the program a car wouldn't be an option.

"Back in the past, I messed up my credit and it took this program and someone saying I'll help her," said Vida Buckner.

If you'd like to apply to buy a car under the "Responsible Rides" program or would like to donate a car, then call Director Donna Stevens at (540) 580-6588.
