LYNCHBURG - Local National Guard families in the Lynchburg area will get a chance at a special shopping experience this coming Saturday.

The Historic Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross, Virginia Defense Force, and Gleaning For The World plan to open the "Operation Enduring Support" family commissary on May 15th. It will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., and offer the families of 400 members of the Virginia National Guard's 116th Infantry Battalion to shop for non-perishable food, household products, and baby products donated by the community. The unit is deployed in Iraq.

The groups hope to hold the commissary once a month.

If you would like to make a donation to help these families, contact contact Doug Eggleston at the Historic Virginia Chapter, (434) 845-1234
