A man indicted on a charge relating to the burning of an 8-month-old boy is being sought as a fugitive by Amherst County deputies.
Robert Bruce Levalley, 21, of Madison Heights, is wanted on charges of malicious wounding and child neglect, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
He was scheduled to be in court on May 7 for an advisement, according to the state courts website.
Levalley was arrested in January after Amherst County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called about an 8-month-old boy being treated for burns at a local hospital on New Year’s Eve.
The boy was treated for severe burns to his face, mouth and throat and had what authorities perceived to be old cigarette burns to his feet and other areas of his body, Amherst County Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Cary Payne said after a preliminary hearing in the case.
Sandrina Mae Busick, 20, also of Madison Heights, was also charged with felony child neglect and malicious wounding in the same incident. Busick, the boy’s mother, is scheduled for trial on June 30.
Authorities are now seeking Levalley, who was free on bond after the preliminary hearing.
Levalley is a white man with brown hair and blue eyes. He stands about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. He grew up in Lexington and may also have ties to Roanoke. His last known address was Old Wright Shop Road in Madison Heights and he used to work as a roofer.
Anyone with information about Levalley’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 798-5900. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest. All calls are confidential.
