Two Southside based charities receive a multi-thousand dollar donation from a local convenience store chain.
Fas Mart announced on Thursday that it made a $3,200 donation to both Community Storehouse in Martinsville and God's Storehouse in Danville. Both groups help those in need feed their families.
"The generous donation received from Fas Mart fully sponsors 16 children in our Food for Kids program, which provides children identified as being at-risk for hunger, with child-friendly, nutritious food every week. 1 in 4 children in Southside Virginia live in poverty, so the support of Fas Mart is as needed as it is appreciated," said Travis Adkins, Assistant Executive Director, PIO of Community Storehouse, in a news release.
"We are grateful for the opportunity to support charitable organizations that help needy families in our community," said Rick Klyczek, Vice President of Marketing and Sales of GPM Investments, LLC, which operates both the Fas Mart and Shore Stop convenience store chains, in the release. Rick added, "We are thankful to all of our generous customers and vendor partners for their contributions to these causes."
