South Boston Police investigate armed robberies

South Boston Police are searching for the criminals behind two armed robberies, and an attempted armed robbery that took place on Labor Day Monday, September 6th.

Officers tell us the first call happened around 9:26 p.m. Officer T. W. Bush drove out to the South Boston Inn on Seymour Drive. A 41-year-old man sad two men knocked on his door, and when he opened it, the men one of the men had a mask on, a gun out, and demanded money. The man quickly closed and locked his door, then called police.

The second hall happened around 10:22 p.m. Sgt. S.L. Warf went to the 1600 block of North Main Street to investigate an armed robbery.

A 32-year-old man told Sgt. Warf that two men with shirts covering their faces approached him, one took out a gun, and demanded the man's belongings. The robbers stole the man's jewelry, cash, cell phone, and wallet. The robbers then ran off down Webster Street.

The third case also came in around 10:22 p.m. Officer T. M. Carrington talked with a 51-year-old man who said he had been robbed at gunpoint on Easley Street about 45 minutes earlier.

The victim said a man pointed a small, semi-automatic handgun at him, and demanded money. The robber stole cash, and drove off in a black or chocolate colored car. The victim said the robber wore a pullover mask with an orange velcro flap covering the nose and mouth.
