Pulaski County leaders declared a state of emergency Friday night, after two powerful lines of storms blew threw the county, including one that caused multiple tornado warnings.
Assistant County Administrator Robert Hiss said described the storm damage as "greater than straight-line winds," but as of Friday night the National Weather Service had not confirmed if a tornado had touched down in the county.
Hiss said the hardest hit areas range from Draper, to the southwestern part of the Town of Pulaski. Hiss says there is severe damage to homes and other structures west of Washington Avenue in the town, and south of the railroad tracks in the town. Also, other significant damage has been seen in the Draper area.
WSLS reporter Ashley Roberts saw multiple live power lines down on roads, multiple trees down on roads, and traffic lights out in Pulaski.
The National Weather Service (NWS) says it has received reports of "significant damage" to the west side of Pulaski, and along Interstate 81 at the Draper exit (92). The NWS says the reports claims that several homes, and a gas station have been destroyed.
WSLS viewers sent in multiple pictures, showing damage to at least one home, a large tree down on a power line, and multiple pictures of hail that fell in Pulaski.
A shelter was set up at Pulaski Elementary School, and police urged everyone living in the area to stay off of the roads.
Hiss added that there had been reports of a few people having been hurt, but did not say how serious the injuries were Friday night.
