There's plenty to do outdoors this weekend that is, if the weather cooperates.
There are a number of things going on Saturday. Starting with the earliest, the 2nd annual Susan G. Komen Walk For The Cure Roanoke Valley will be held in Green Hill Park. Registration starts bright and early but unfortunately, it won’t be very bright with cloudy skies and temperatures in the low to mid 50s.
If you're itching for football season, head to Virginia Tech’s first open scrimmage of the season. Fans are asked to sit on the west side of the stadium and no cameras allowed. Gates open at 10:30 and again expect mostly cloudy skies at kick off with the chance for scattered showers and storms before the end of the scrimmage. Temperatures are going to try to climb into the low 60s as well.
From football to Easter egg hunts... If you’re interested in some spring fun, head to Salem’s annual Easter egg hunt Saturday. This hunt will take place in Longwood Park from 1 to 3 pm. This event is expected to go on rain or shine, which is a good thing because scattered showers are in the forecast. As far as temperatures go, expect them to be in the low to mid 60s.
Finally on Sunday, the Salem Red Sox will wrap up their opening weekend with the first pitch at 4:05 pm. If you’re heading to the ball game be prepared for much warmer temperatures and some sun, finally! Throughout the game temperatures will likely be in the upper 70s and low 80s.
