Blacksburg Delegate Jim Shuler retiring

»  Comments | Post a Comment

After serving 18 years in the General Assembly, Blacksburg Delegate Jim Shuler (D) says he will not run for re-election.

Shuler is serving his 9th term in the House of Delegates as the 12th District's representative.

He sent out this statement about his retirement:

"The past eighteen years have been a real joy and one of the highlights of my career, first as a practicing veterinarian and secondly as a member of state government. Serving my constituents is what really made my legislative years such a gratifying experience. Your support, comments and words of encouragement will be treasured memories."

"Serving in the House has been an honor, a commitment of time and energy that I gladly gave. However, time marches on and it is time to pursue other dreams and adventures."
