Roanoke elementary students raise money for Rescue Mission

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Kindergartners at Roanoke's Lincoln Terrace Elementary are giving back to the community.

On Friday, the students presented a check for $530 to the Roanoke Rescue Mission, the largest homeless shelter in Western Virginia.

The fundraiser was part of a social studies project.  The students raised the money through a bake sale.

Gail Strickler with the Rescue Mission says she is proud of the students' hard work.

"It is an amazing way for children to be able to bless other children in their communities, and to recognize we all are interconnected,” says Strickler.

The money will go to help families and children at the Rescue Mission.
