Danville police are searching for suspects who stole money or other items from individuals in a “card game scam” Monday afternoon.

Danville police received several calls and went to several business locations throughout the city in reference to a scam where suspects approached people in parking lots and offered a three-card shuffle kind of game for a wager, according to a Danville Police Department news release. When the victims pulled out money or other items of value, the suspects then snatched the items and ran.

At 3:30 p.m., one victim reported having money snatched in the Walmart parking lot, the release stated. At 5 p.m., two victims reported having jewelry snatched in the parking lot of Piney Forest Shopping Center.

Three suspects were described as traveling in a van, possibly gray or green in color with unknown North Carolina temporary tags.

Anyone with information should contact Danville Crime Stoppers at (434) 793-0000 or crimetips@ci.danville.va.us. Information given will remain confidential.
