Hokies for Crouse collects gifts for family

"It is Christmas time, could you imagine losing your husband and being the mother of five children during Christmas time, during this time when it is suppose to be so spirited and cheerful, and than this devastation comes to this family,” says Drew Jenkinson.

For the last few days, Virginia Tech students Drew Jenkinson and Bethany Darnley have been trying every way they can to help the Crouse family during a difficult time. But with Christmas around the corner, they are hoping to bring them a tiny bit of Christmas spirit.

"A lot of people expressed their thoughts and prayers for the Crouse family and this was just an outlet for them to express that,” says Darnley.

Together with the Virginia Tech Police Department, Hokies for Crouse will be collecting everything from gift cards to presents, to give to the family Christmas day.

"Officer Crouse was part of our family and even though a lot of us didn't know him he is still family to us and we will be there to support his family through thick and thin because they are Hokies too,” says Darnley.

So far they have collected a few gifts, but are hoping more come in. And after seeing how much money they raised online, they believe it won't be a problem.

"For anyone that is unsure just see what we have accomplished, and take a look at what we have done, and just be apart of it because it is really moving,” says Darnley.
