FREDERICKSBURG — Northern Virginia commuters can now count the minutes while they sit in traffic on Interstate 95.
The Virginia Department of Transportation Monday took the wraps off electronic message signs between Fredericksburg and Washington. The signs display estimated travel times, giving motorists a heads up on what lies ahead or the option to seek alternate routes.
Motorists will see travel times posted at three northbound and four southbound locations along the highway. They will operate from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.
The system was introduced in August on other Washington-area commuter routes.
